Blachere Illumination UK celebrates 20 years of inspiring young creatives in Newburgh, Fife
Long-running children’s design competition continues to shine at the Newburgh Christmas light switch-on!
Blachere Illumination UK is proud to celebrate more than 20 years of illuminating Newburgh’s festive season through its much-loved children’s design competition. The longstanding initiative invites local young people to submit drawings that Blachere transforms into real festive lighting motifs, helping children see their creativity come to life in the heart of their community.
This year’s winning design saw its grand unveiling during Newburgh’s lights switch-on event.
For over two decades, the competition has brought excitement, pride, and festive spirit to Newburgh, creating a unique tradition that families look forward to year after year.
Blachere Illumination UK’s commitment to community lighting extends far beyond Newburgh. As Scotland’s most renowned festive lighting specialist, the company proudly illuminates many other communities across Fife, including St Andrews, Crail, Cowdenbeath, Kelty, Leuchars and Guardbridge.
These communities enjoy distinctive, high-quality festive displays designed to bring people together and spread festive cheer!
Blachere is also responsible for the iconic illuminated experiences at Five Sisters Zoo, a major seasonal attraction that draws visitors from across Scotland and showcases the company’s creativity and expertise on a spectacular scale. The event opens on Friday 21 November, with tickets in high demand.
The annual Newburgh competition highlights Blachere’s commitment in helping young people in Scotland make a lasting mark on their town while fostering engagement, confidence, and festive joy.
“For more than 20 years, Newburgh’s young people have inspired us with their imagination,” said Jeff Williams, Director of Operations at Blachere Illumination UK.
“We’re honoured to help bring their ideas to life and to continue illuminating communities across Fife and beyond.”
