Agadir AFCON lighting transformed the city’s streets, roundabouts and seafront into vibrant spaces of celebration
To celebrate the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, Agadir set out to shine with the colours of African football, transforming its streets, roundabouts, boulevards and seafront into vibrant spaces of celebration for residents, visiting fans and the six national teams passing through the city.
The brief was ambitious: light the city at a scale Morocco had never attempted before, turning Agadir into a unified, unmistakably festive identity for the tournament, while reflecting the pride, energy and ambition of a city stepping into the international spotlight.
Blachere Illumination was entrusted with designing and manufacturing the decorative scheme across Agadir’s key landmarks and thoroughfares, delivering what became the largest-ever festive lighting project in Morocco.

A Lasting Impression
For the length of the tournament, Agadir’s public realm became an extension of the AFCON celebration itself. A city dressed for its moment on the continental stage. The scheme demonstrated how large-scale festive lighting, when designed with genuine craftsmanship, can carry a national event’s identity out of the stadiums and into everyday public life.
