Ahoy! Pirate Ship Bed Commission sets sail

We were approached by a high-profile client to design and build an exciting, themed child’s bed, in double bed proportions. After designing another bed and wardrobe for this client, (see Princess Bed Case Study) we had carte blanche over the theme, designing a range of solutions, from spaceships to royal carriages, which were presented to the child to choose his preferred design; decided to be the Pirate Ship.

We faced a few challenges for this bespoke project; creating a truly world-class installation, not only serving as a functional bed, but which also creates a magical experience in its own right. We achieved this by incorporating intelligent LED lighting effects and special effect lights and sounds (the cannons fire!!).

A technical challenge was to manufacture the bed in such a way that the finished unit could be assembled via a standard width doorway. The bed was specifically designed to enhance the measurements of the room, allowing accessibility to power-ports and lighting.

We organised a mural to be painted on the bedrooms walls, to compliment the Pirate Bed and create a completely new themed environment.
